One Day Cricket Livens Up Spread Betting

September 15th, 2009 Gambling Tips Master Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

With Australia holding an unbeatable 4-0 lead in the One Day International series spread betting now becomes an interesting proposition. How inspired will the Aussies be to get a clean sweep? How inspired will the home side be to at least get some respectability back?

They are good questions and very important questions since they will determine the final outcome of the series. Online bookmakers have Australia at 9/4 to make a clean sweep of the series. 7-0 is a hard ask and bookies know it. They have an Aussie 6-1 victory as favourite at 11/10 with a 5-2 victory priced at 3/1.

Can the home side win the final three games for a 4-3 result? I doubt it somehow given their current form. Bookies have that result at 16/1 – a deserved price.

It is hard to fathom the home side. Sure, they are missing two of their better players in Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen but Stuart Broad and Andrew Strauss have stood up to the task well – they just need Strauss to get into the triple figures and for players around him to provide more support.

The Australians are playing well and following Lee’s last bag questions are again being asked as to why he didn’t play in the final test. The Aussies were left with badly bruised ego’s following the loss of the Ashes so a 4-0 whitewash was predictable. Whilst 7-0 is not beyond them I think some of the hunger will have dissipated now.

I expect the home side to bounce back today and win this fifth game and perhaps the sixth as well before the Aussies claim the seventh. You can now expect the Aussies to play around with side a bit – always a danger. Australia to win the series 5-2 at odds of 3/1 feels like a good bet to me.

Betting Odds Favour Spain In Confederations Cup

June 23rd, 2009 Gambling Tips Master Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

The Confederations Cup is drawing to a conclusion and although the two favourites have easily made it through to the semi finals, their opposition come as real surprises. The US have performed remarkably well, finishing the round-robin group stage with a brilliant 3-0 win over Egypt. Egypt will be tipped to defeat the US by that margin so you had an effective 6-goal turn around.

Unfortunately for the US they now face tournament favourites Spain – a team that has been almost unbeatable all year. Spain got into this game with betting odds of four to one on (1/4) with the US at 11/1 against. It is hard to see the US defeating Spain although it will be a brilliant game to watch. The US will consider making the finals a dream result so in the semi-final they have nothing to lose but to go for goal – as often as possible.

In the other semi finals, second favourites Brazil confront host nation South Africa. They too are lucky to have made it through with the more fancied teams failing to fire. Italy have been the biggest disappointments of the tournament, failing to win a game. Brazil go into their semi-final as 1/3 favourites with the South Africans at 10/1.

It is hard to see the favourites being beaten in the semi’s. They have been a class above everyone else in this tournament and deserve their places as favourites. Spain are at 10/11 to win the tournament with Brazil 15/13.

Given the form coming into the tournament, and the form during the tournament, I am surprised at the prices being offered about Spain. I know Brazil have that touch of brilliance and they seem to save their best for tournament finals, however, Spain have been so polished this year that I think 10/11 on offer is worth taking plenty off. Those sort of betting odds don’t come around all that often – bookmakers, I fear, are judging this contest more on Brazil’s reputation than on their form. They are certainly not valued at 15/13.

Understanding Spread Betting In One Easy Lesson

June 4th, 2008 Gambling Tips Master Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

Spread betting is one of the most riskiest forms of betting with often small profits given the age of a bet. They can also be one of the easiest ways to lose money if you don’t know what your are doing.

The concept of spread betting is very simple. Bookmakers look at a contest and try to determine an outcome. Lets take the football as an example. The bookmakers may determine that Liverpool will finish the season with 76 premiership points. They will assess the ‘spread‘ at say 75-77. A spread will always have a minimum and maximum. In this case they are betting on Liverpool finishing with a minimum of 75 and a maximum of 77 premiership points – this covers their estimate of 76 points, give or take a point.

As a punter you can either back Liverpool to score more points – referred to as buying the spread – or you can back them to score less points – referred to as selling the spread. Thinking caps on now. Betting is a set amount per point. Lets see what happens if you bet £10 per point.

If you ‘buy’ the spread, you are backing Liverpool to score more points. If Liverpool finish the season on 80 points, you will win 80-77x£10 =£30 – three points over the spread times £10 equals £30. If Liverpool finish the season with 70 points, you will lose 75-70x£10=£50 – five points times £10 equals £50. You are betting on the points outside the 75-77 ’spread’.

If you ’sell’ the spread, you are backing Liverpool to score less points. If Liverpool finish the season 80 points, you will lose 80-77x£10=£30. If Liverpool finish with 70 points, you will win 75-70x£10=£50.

When buying, you already know the maximum loss – in this case minimum 75 minus zero points times £10 equals £750 – the maximum you can lose. The maximum you can win is virtually unknown although in football, you know if they win every match they will finish with a certain number of points.

When selling, your maximum win is £750 if Liverpool fail to receive a point. The maximum loss is the maximum number points possible less 77.

It sounds quite complicated but in reality it isn’t. Where the danger lies in making the correct selection. You don’t need to wait out the season to collect – or pay up. If your selection makes a good start or a particularly bad start to the season, the bookies may alter the spread. You can then ’sell’ your bet and collect the profit immediately.

Spread betting can be on any event and has some interesting offerings. The total winning margins (first to third) in a horse race. The total runs in a test or one day cricket game. The number of goal-less minutes in a football match. The offerings are endless.

Getting The Most Out Of Spread Betting

March 17th, 2008 Gambling Tips Master Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

What do you know about spread betting? Not a lot? Take a moment to check out UK Betting Centrals helpful article on the subject. While your there check out some of their other helpful articles.

Spread betting is one of the most interesting forms of gambling. You are not betting on a set win/lose/draw result, you are betting on an outcome. The betting company makes a prediction as to who will win or lose and by how much. You then place your bet against them, either predicting a higher or lower winning margin.

Your wins in spread betting can be much higher than in traditional win/loss style bets. However, if you can win more, then the opposite is also true and you can potentially lose more so you need to treat this type of betting quite seriously.

With spread betting you really do need to know your game and the teams involved. More importantly, you need to know the strengths and weaknesses of each team. It is no good taking an overs bet if the opposition has a strong defensive record. Spread betting is not for the romantics. You really do need to bet with your head and not your heart.

If your interested in spread betting then drop into UK Betting Central for more information and links to the top spread betting sites available right now. Spread betting – it is putting the excitement back into sports betting.

Sporting Index and Spread Betting

February 19th, 2008 Gambling Tips Master Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

Sporting Index is the main site for anyone interested in spread betting. It’s come a long way in its 16 years of existence too:

“In 1992 Sporting Index was founded with just 5 members of staff and 50 clients. The company now caters for well over 40,000 spread bettors with an expanded team of over 100 staff, half of which are based on the trading desk.” axcis.co.uk

But it took another eight years before the world saw the kind of sports spread betting that everyone wants to see:

“In 2000 Sporting Index launched the first truly interactive sports spread betting website, and now take 70% of all bets online.” axcis.co.uk

Four years later they also launched the first spread betting games online. They even had a Play For Fun option, which has become the best imaginable way to learn how to spread bet – without losing (or winning) any money.

The High and Low of Spreadbetting

October 20th, 2007 Gambling Tips Master Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

Upon hearing the word betting, people will immediately have some sort of apprehension and would want to disseminate what it stands for and what type of betting is at stake. Adding it a notch higher, spreadbetting may seem to be a little bit more complicated for the people who fail to understand the whole thing without even finding out how the mechanics is all about.

It is quite simple, you either agree or play wise guy with the people who make predictions in selected games. For sure, betting enthusiasts will not agree with such predictions, especially if they look back at the track records of such games. Thus, spreadbetting is really about going high or low with the set prediction, the difference of which is the winning or losing bet placed in spread betting.

Simple yet addicting, spreadbetting is that easy for the people who want to get to put their intuition to work. For example a fearless forecast of the final score will be set. People who disagree just have to make their own forecast and say if it is higher or lower through adding certain points. If they fall on the right side, its as easy as money in the bank!

Spread Betting Is Fun, Exciting, And Offers Huge Potential

August 27th, 2007 Manager Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

It’s easy to see why spread betting is so popular in Great Britain. There are so many events to bet on and all you have to do is decide whether the spread betting firm is accurate in its predictions or not. If you say no then you bet accordingly. The amount of money you win or lose is based on the degree of the difference between the spread betting firm’s prediction and the actual outcome.

There are essentially two types of spreading betting: Sports spread betting and financial spread betting. With sports, you bet on the final outcome of a sporting event. With financial spread betting, you’re actually betting on the outcome or future prediction of an event such as the price of a stock or the value of an index fund. Some newer spread betting events actually allow you to bet on the predictions of political events such as who will win a particular election or whether a certain bit of legislation will win favor with a parliamentary body.

Spread betting is fun and exciting and the potential to win huge amounts of money in one small bet keeps spread betters coming back for more on a regular basis. Of course, the downside is that you might lose large amounts of money in a single bet as well. You must know your comfort zone.

When you’re ready to try spread betting, head over to Online Betting UK and check out these events. Bet on the ones that interest you.

Spread Betting Is So Much Fun The U.S. Outlawed It

July 24th, 2007 Manager Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

Spread betting is one of the most fun ways to gamble online. A little bit different than traditional betting. That may be why Americans have outlawed. It’s too much fun.

In essence, it works like this: The spread betting firm makes a prediction on the outcome of an event. The better places a bet on whether he thinks that prediction is too high or too low. If he wins, he wins the amount of his bet times the difference between the final outcome and the spread betting firm’s prediction. Here’s an example:

We’re betting on football. Suppose the spread betting firm predicts that there will be four goals scored in the game. That’s four goals between the two teams. You think it will be a lower scoring game so you bet accordingly. You place a bet of 10p for every goal below four. If the game results in a 1-0 score then you win 30p based on the difference between the prediction and the final score. If, on the other hand, the score ends up 3-2, a total of 5 points, then you would lose 10p. If the score were to end 4-2 then you would lose 20p. Simple, right?

Spread betting is one of the most exciting games to play online. It’s totally legal in the UK and your winnings are tax free. Head on over to Online Betting UK and play today.

Spread Betting Is Simple, Fun, And Exciting

April 7th, 2007 Manager Posted in Spread Betting No Comments »

Spread betting has become popular in recent years. It’s simple to understand and can be lucrative once you get a grasp of the concepts.

The first thing that happens is the spread betting firm picks and event and predicts an outcome. For instance, let’s say there is a football game going on. The spread betting firm predicts there will be five goals scored in the game. The prediction has nothing to do with which team will score the most points. The game could end 3-2, 2-3, 4-1, or 0-5. The end result, so the firm says, will be a total of five points scored during the game.

Now what you have to do is decide whether you think the firm is right or not. You place your bet on whether or not the firm will succeed in its prediction. If you think more than five goals will be scored then you’ll bet on that outcome. If you think less, then you bet on that. If you are right then you win the specified amount of money for each point of difference between the firm’s prediction and the outcome.

Let’s say you think the game will end with fewer than five points. So you bet 100 GBP to that effect. If the game ends with a final score of 2-1 then you win 200 GBP (5-3=2; 2 times 100 = 200). If, on the other hand, the final outcome is 5-3, then you lose 300 GBP based on the difference of the prediction and the final outcome. Simple, right?

It is simple but you could stand to win or lose big amounts very quickly. But there is hardly any comparison in fun and excitement anywhere in the gambling world.
